One day, I know I will wake up in the morning and either have 500 emails or Tweets that Vanessa is finally coming back again. It happened before and I’m sure it will happen again. I’m patient and waiting for that amazing day….

Until then, I bide my time, tweet pretty pictures, encouraging words and make fun of Kate as much as I can. It’s what S&Bers do, we make fun of who ever Sonny spends his time with.. If Brenda were on-screen sans Sonny, I’d make fun of who ever she was paired with. Why? Because he wouldn’t be Sonny.

Seeing Sonny by himself, sans a woman, allows growth to happen within the character and I love to see Sonny grow and understand exactly who he is and what makes him tick. He’s one sexy character, whom I love to watch!

As a S&B Fan First, I unfortunately fall into a bad category. I like both characters separately but there is a magical thing that happens when the characters are put together. They exude sexiness, friendship, comfort, passion and overwhelming love between them. I can’t help but get drawn into their love story. S&B are special and when I first laid eyes on them, I fell hard. I suppose like a first love. I will never forget the feeling I had when I first met Sonny and Brenda, separately and as a couple.

I will never be just a Sonny Fan First or just a Brenda Fan First in the true sense of the meanings. I couldn’t choose between them.  I choose both.  I see their flaws and in spite of their problems, I feel they are at their best, together. Neither is perfect and I wouldn’t want them to be. They came from two opposite ends of the spectrum and found their way together by the grace of Claire Labine’s pen. The scribe wove such an unforgettable  tale, it has lived on in my heart and many others. We can’t let go. S&B ALWAYS come home to the other. In 1 year, 5 years or another 20, there will be a continuation to their love story, I just *know* it! Our loyalty proves that fact.

I don’t have much to say except that I love my Sonny and Brenda. I love Maurice Benard for being our Sonny for all these wonderful years and allowing me to enjoy my favorite mobster, continuously. I love Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo for being as much of a S&Ber as I am and my friends are. I love that she will take time to play with us on Twitter.

We’re such a LUCKY fanbase! We really are…. I thank my lucky stars for having all my S&Bers and for getting to know both Vanessa and Maurice through their tweets. I am fortunate to have “met” so many fans, just the S&Bers, SFF’s and BFF’s. You all have brought so much to the table and have made interesting points, fun discussions and amazing support for our safe haven.

Have fun, play nice and remember.. One day we will have a day full of EEEEEEEEEEE’s and our ride will continue.

The magic of the 1990′s era of GH has stayed with Sonny and Brenda fans because of the seamless way the tales were written. Sure, we are S&Bers but along with that, we are Claire Labine fans, always.

Claire Labine wove tales that captured our hearts, had us falling in love and took us on adventures that would break our hearts, give us hope and ignited passion on our tv screens. She wrote stories within stories, used all the cast, from old-time vets to the newest of newbies and intertwined them all so the stories would unfold and affect all of Port Charles. It was magical because it caused the fans to enjoy ALL of GH, not just select couples or characters.

Claire introduced us to the feisty Brenda Barrett first. She was a spitfire who had been stuck in a few European boarding schools along the way and suddenly showed up on her sister, Julia’s doorstep. From there, she meddled in her sister’s love life, fell hard for Jagger Cates and struggled to find where she fit in. She became friends with Robin Scorpio, Ned Ashton and AJ & Jason Quartermaine. Finally, Brenda was coming into her own and had a place to be herself in Port Charles. Our favorite heroine was on the fast track to being one of the greatest female characters of all time. Vanessa Marcil had mad chemistry with EVERYONE!

Next, Claire introduced us to the brooding mobster, Sonny Corinthos. He came on the scene running the very seedy, Paradise Lounge and coaxed the very vulnerable Karen Wexler into becoming a stripper. He fed her need for pills and got her into bed. Maurice Benard’s role was only meant to be short-term at that time but, Maurice’s on-screen presence, and crazy chemistry with others, destined him to something more on the show. His character was brought on more and began interacting with some of the other already established characters. Claire also wrote a best friend for Sonny in the new character of Stone Cates. They were two outcasts working their way into the hearts of the citizens of Port Charles and the viewers at home.

Once Sonny and Brenda met and connected, their love story was written in the stars and captivated our hearts like no other couple. They flirted, bantered, eyes met from across rooms and we fell for them hook, line and sinker! General Hospital struck gold with the pairing of Sonny and Brenda! They leapt off the screens and into our imaginations for almost 20 years. They were passionate, sexy, bold and daring!  Sonny and Brenda are soulmates and meant to be together.

What happened next was the treat of watching 3 different couples fall in love and over come the obstacles placed before them. Claire wrote the love stories of Sonny and Brenda, Stone and Robin and Ned and Lois simultaneously, slowly and seamlessly. The way they were written was amazing and the viewers at home were taken on the path to love along with the characters. The viewers saw all 3 couples flirt, go on dates, argue & make up, have fun with their friends/families and deal with different nay-sayers about their relationship. Claire wove stories. Made them realistic and memorable. So much so, most of us fans from that era enjoy watching those clips on Youtube over and over again. 

Obviously, we are big Sonny and Brenda fans. We love their love story, undeniable chemistry between Vanessa and Maurice, the genuine friendship both the couple and actors have for each other, the history the characters have; separate and together and the amazing loyalty they have inspired in their fans. S&Bers have been loyal to Sonny and Brenda as a couple & to their characters individually. We are also quite loyal to the actors who portray S&B, too. We fell in love with the whole package and never wavered.

Claire Labine left an imprint on GH and on the viewers hearts. We thank her for the powerful, amazing and fun stories of that time. We would love to see some of that amazing storytelling come back to our show. We would love to join the journey of couples falling in love, over coming all odds and see adventure, drama and fun back on General Hospital.

The wedding was AMAZINGLY beautiful and as a S&Ber of almost 20 years, it was a long, overdue pay off and I appreciated every moment of it. We had a fantastic media tour, pictures, beautiful scenes and magical lines spoken. I loved Brenda’s dress and she looked gorgeous. Sonny looked so dapper and happy in his tux.. What a beautiful couple they make! Everything was great, until the end of the reception, when things started to get a bit hairy for our couple.

Why Guza couldn’t write something else, something creative, full of love, passion and sharing between Sonny and Brenda is beyond me. Regardless of what Vanessa’s plan was, they could have gone in a way where maybe we wouldn’t have seen the departure coming like it really was spelled out for us. They could have written a passionate S&B, very much in love, working together and truly having a marriage. We should have seen that honeymoon. March was so depressing and dark last year. It was quite unnecessary for the whole month to be crap. I believe it was 15 or 18 scenes of the honeymoon cut. That would have been a week or 2, may 3 with how TPTB drag out things of happiness inserted in the wake of tragedy… We didn’t even see Liz, Lucky or even Jason mourn together, see a funeral or how Liz healed during those dark days. Instead it was about Luke and his drinking. Not about the life lost and what he meant to those 3 people who were his parents.  Jason may have been a “donor” but he was a parent who sacrificed his happiness for his son to grow up in a “stable” home. Anyway, it was depressing, sad and very dark. There was no light.

As soon as we had S&B again, we had Lucian thrust onto the scene. This is where the WTF really comes into play in our S&B story. In no way shape or form would our “old” S&B NOT work together for the good of someone else, especially if a child belonging to one of them was kidnapped.I also don’t get the shutting out they both did to each other. Also, my opinion is this, Sonny did the majority of the shutting out, put Carly ahead of Brenda and stopped taking his meds. I believe Sonny was in the wrong during this. Sure, Brenda was a bit crazy during this time but who wouldn’t be if their child was missing? Then when the discovery that Lucian was not Brenda’s child but Alec was? Is Lucian still sitting in that airport? Does anyone care?

The exit was written poorly. Yes, Brenda’s exit. Wow, I, off the top of my head could have written at least 5 other ways for her to have been written out so Sonny could continue to have a gf down the road if they chose to go that route.

1) Brenda could have been kidnapped & presumed dead. Franco could have been involved. Thus creating an umbrella story and including other cast members into the story with Sonny.

2) Sonny & Brenda could have staged a break-up and Sonny could have taken extended trips to be with his wife and step-child.

3) Brenda could have continued modeling and would have been away with phone calls, references to her flying in for the weekend.

4) Brenda could have been in an accident and wound up in a coma. We could have watched Sonny deal with being a sudden father to Alec. He never had a child with him full-time when they were that young.

5) Brenda could have gotten a call from Julia and Brenda, along with Alec could have gone to be with Julia as she maybe dealt with a health crisis.

So many better ways than Brenda hitching a ride with Jax. It was a cop-out in my opinion. A way not to deal with the impact S&B have had on ratings, nothing about their history or the connection they shared. Just a “peace-out” sort of  ending. Full of unsaid words and broken promises. No meaty story to send either S or B off in their new directions. It was sad and frustrating.

Honestly, other than 2 mentions after Brenda left about Sonny NOT taking his meds, we never really heard about it again, nor do we understand exactly why he stopped taking them. There’s been no therapy, just loose ends and a rush back into a relationship with Kate. I would have rathered to have seen him deal with his demons and dark areas of his life. Why couldn’t he let Brenda in? Why did she really leave him? Why did he trust Carly over Brenda when we all know Carly is crazier than a loonybin? Why couldn’t he trust Brenda? Why couldn’t she really confide in Sonny and why couldn’t he comfort her when her little boy was missing? Why was this storyline written in a way that was really unrecognizable for Sonny and Brenda fans? Neither one was true to character. Except that Brenda always runs away when she feels unwanted and Sonny lets her go because he wants to protect her.

We had huge ups and downs this year at The Sonny and Brenda Forum and now at our new spot, The Sonny and Brenda Haven. During 2010/2011, we had Sonny and Brenda. We were so fortunate to have them together having fun, beautiful chemistry and a true, real life friendship that leaps off the screen like nobody’s business. Vanessa and Maurice also reached out to their fans this year in a major way. Vanessa started tweeting with a whole bunch of us and Maurice had a wonderful and fun fan tour on the east coast. They both had events at GHFCW.  Some of us even saw both Maurice and Vanessa together, which to see “Sonny and Brenda” in person is a unbelieveable gift and honor to see your faves for so many years live, in person in one place.  Best night of my life after marriage & babies.

We don’t know what 2012 has in store for us, we could have S&B again. It was a crazy year for S&Bers.. Highest of highs and really bad, bad lows but, we made awesome friendships, had a lot of fun and have bonded even more to each other. S&Bers are the best #Team out there.

We really had a fantastic and fun year. It was unexpected but always hoped for. It could have been better but, I will relish the moments we had because those moments are what keep our fanbase together, our bus rolling and hope for the future.

We at the Sonny and Brenda Forum would like to inform you of a few changes taking place at the board.

As of, 12/14/11 we are moving to a new URL and changing the name of the forum. We are doing so for 2 reasons.

First of which, we would like everyone to have a safe haven with the ability to voice your opinions in the proper area. It’s important to us for everyone to feel they are a part of the make up of our board and not  just a vistor who should keep their opinions to themselves.

Second, Lisa and I both feel that we have outgrown the Forum and wanted an new place to hang our S&B hats, as well as a great new place to call our home.

Suha and Vani have been very gracious thru the years to allow us to change the skin & banners, add and subtract from areas of the board and run the place as if our own. Lisa and I thank them from the bottom of our hearts and wish them happy times, much success and a bright future with the S&B Forum. If not for them, we would not have the courage to stand on our own and make a new place for ourselves and our #Team of S&Bers.

Our decision has not been easy but with all the changes in daytime tv as we know it, probable changes in GH’s status and an uncertain future, we feel it’s time to evolve and change ourselves.

The rules of the board are the same as well as clip viewing, art and mvid sharing and awesome fanfic reading. We will continue to have fun, support each other and have constructive discussions about the show, our couple and day to day things that happen in our personal lives.

We hope to see you all at our new home, our Castle in the Sky, where all our hopes, dreams and memories will live on!

 This is a project run by our #TeamSnBer, Britni, these are her words about her fundraiser….

I am launching a “Change for Charity” drive at my school for the deserving charity: Nkosi’s Haven. After joining twitter and following a true mentor of mine (since I was 14) Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo, I decided I needed to do more for others. Vanessa has really encouraged me to open my heart up and assist others who are less fortunate. I took to Vanessa’s charity Nkosi’s Haven right away. I am a teacher in a high poverty urban district in which approx 99% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. After researching Nkosi’s Haven, I noticed a correlation between my students and the children at the Haven. I felt like this would be a great opportunity for my kids to help other kids, to see that there are children who are less fortunate than they are, and they could make a difference in their lives by donating. My students, as well as other classes in my school, have really taken to this charity drive. They made posters and put them up around the school to advertise. They wrote pen pal letters to the children at the Haven and are so excited to send them! They are bringing in bags of change each day and telling their parents to “Empty their wallets for Nkosi’s”!! I really want to thank Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo for inspiring me, to inspire others, to take action in helping those in need. “Children Helping Children”= POWERFUL. I would really appreciate any donation that you can make. In addition to my students, your donations will really make a difference in the lives of these beautiful angels at Nkosi’s Haven! Every little bit helps!!
