The RATINGS SUCK!! I even left a message on General Hospital’s Facebook wall.  This is awful!! Ok, so, here is what I posted, it goes further with responses but I will just go with my first post:

I just wanted to leave a comment after seeing the latest ratings release… If you, TPTB wish to raise the ratings, you need to cut loose Robert Guza. He is out of ideas, very predictable, vile, sexist, has no clue what women want to see, and has worn out his welcome. Guza has written good stories here and there, I am sure someone likes something out there, but honestly, it is mostly forgettable and very dark. What happened to friends, family, fun, passion, love and adventure? To be quite honest, GH is way off track of the show it used to be and could be again.

The fundamental problems here, imo, are Guza and Phelps. There is no clear vision and they lack the insight they should use the talent they have on cast and really WRITE a powerhouse story that includes the whole or majority of the cast. Use history… Have 3 or 4 stories culminate into the one huge sweeping story… Give everyone a shot at being the top dog as most of them should have that spot occasionally. Yes, I am a HUGE Sonny and Brenda fan… Do I want to see them everyday? Yes but no.

Case in point, today’s show. Today was their big, huge first date at the Metro Court. Should be tons of flirting, sexy glances, kissing, touching and things that happen on dates. Should have been like 20 minutes of the show right?  Nope, not by Guza’s poison pen. Everyone else on the darn show had huge, long ass scenes while our beloved SnB had a whole hot 30 seconds and I’m being very generous here. If SnB are going to be shown every day, than I suppose  half a minute of face time is enough. (not really in my world but..) Now, if  the writers actually wrote, and instead of choppy editing we had proper writing and editing, all the Sonny and Brenda scenes could be shown in 2 days with maybe a third day for each to have scenes with others, or proper editing for all 3 days to show more diverse interaction. I don’t mean with Carly, Jax, Jason, Sam, Spinelli and Crusty Boobs Suzanne, but with everyone else.

Please, for the love of the soap genre, TPTB, meaning FRONS, needs to wake up and smell the coffee before it’s too late. He needs to cut those two idiots, Guza and JFP loose and find others to give idea and directions to the writing staff. If that doesn’t happen, and fresh blood is not in there soon, this show will be history. People say OLTL and AMC are on the verge of being cancelled but from how I see it, GH is much closer with how their ratings plummet and how disgruntled their very vocal fans are. How the interns don’t say anything or document what people are actually saying is scary. I think TPTB really have their heads stuck up their collective asses chanting “Lalalalallalalalla” to each other. It is quite a sad mind picture.

I hope things turn around for the show but for now, I will enjoy my 5 minutes a week of Sonny and Brenda, if it’s that much I’d be surprised. With how much the characters talk about Sonny and Brenda you’d think they were on constantly. I wish they were.. But then again, who ever thought last year at this time I would be complaining about Sonny and BRENDA’s LACK of AIRTIME? Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

  1. This is my problem in a nutshell. I admit I am not a good GHer so to speak as I don’t watch regularly and only watch when S&B are on. I can’t deal with the writing/tone/etc of this show. And some of my favorites beside S&B are shoved to the back.

And I am not trying to toot RC’s horn over at OLTL but it is hugely better storywise than GH. It has continuity and stories flow into each other all while utilizing the whole cast. My first thought would be for Guza to go but I would like to see Frons and Phelps gone as well. I just can’t understand their reasoning on these ratings but I’m sure they will spin it somehow.
